Congratulations to D & J Custom Cutting in Hartly on receiving $44,000 in state grant funding!
The funding was awarded by the Delaware Division of Small Business through the Delaware Grocery Initiative and First State Food System Program.
The grant funding will be used to expand cold storage capacity, improve processing efficiency, and support food safety.
D & J Custom Cutting is a family-owned, USDA-certified meat processing facility serving farmers and consumers throughout Delaware and the surrounding Eastern Shore.
The project will support the installation of a finished-product walk-in cooler to expand cold storage capacity, improve processing turnaround times, and ensure products meet USDA safe cooling standards. The improved infrastructure will allow the business to safely store more products, increase efficiency, and reach more Delaware consumers while strengthening connections with local farmers and the community.
An extra thank is also extended to Senator Darius Brown, who represents the Wilmington area. A supporter of the initiative, Senator Brown made the trip to the 11th yesterday to help honor this business!
