Coffee With Constituents Friday- Fried Jalapenos- July 31 2016 Update

Friends For Jeff Spiegelman,

I hope you enjoyed the State Fair! I got to go one night and then left on my first Saul-less vacation in three years. I am back and ready to continue working for the good people of the 11th District.

-A special welcome to those just joining our email list.

-Monday night at 7 p.m. is a meeting of the Kenton Town Council. Wednesday night at 7:30 p.m. is a meeting of the Townsend Town Council.

-On Thursday is a bill signing ceremony for HB395 which is a bill that gives official state recognition of the Lenape Indian tribe. I am a sponsor of the bill.

-Friday is our next meeting with constituents at The Young Bean in Clayton from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. Come let me buy you a cup of coffee.

-Saturday is the Camden-Wyoming Peach Festival. I will be in the parade and I would love to have you walking with me. Please email me for more details.

-Thank you for your patience with the donation link. After a couple of fixed errors, we are now, officially, up and running. Thank you to everyone who has donated thus far. If you would like to make an online donation, please go to www.jeffDErepresentative.com and click on “Donate”. If you would prefer to mail a check, please send it to Friends for Jeff Spiegelman, PO BOX 869, Clayton, DE 19938. Thank you for your support!

-I will be delivering yard signs and door knocking through most of the week. Tis the season for campaigning! I am looking forward to talking to the good people of the 11th District while wearing, what has become, my signature yellow shirts. Please let me know if you are interested in joining us!

-The stickers needed for my yard signs are in and I am ready to start sending them out. Please let me know if you would like a sign. I am happy to deliver one to you. If you have already requested a sign, thank you for your support.

-I am happy to announce my next round of constituent meetings through the summer. I invite constituents to stop by one of the following meetings to share a question or concern about a legislative or district matter that may be on their minds:

Please note the change of date of my meeting at The Young Bean in Clayton (now corrected. Thanks Karl!).

·         COFFEE MEETING – (New Date) Friday, August 5th 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. – The Young Bean Coffee Shop (314 Main Street, Clayton)

·         MEET & GREET/WINE TASTINGFriday, August 12th –  5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. – Harvest Ridge Winery (447 Westville Road, Marydel, DE)

·         ICE CREAM SOCIAL – Wednesday, August 24th – 12-noon to 1 p.m. – Mamie Warren Senior Center (1775 Wheatleys Pond Road, Smyrna). Join Jeff for a free scoop of ice cream.

While at the fair you always run into a new food you had never seen before. This is no exception. I have not tried to cook this yet, so this recipe might be missing a few things while I trial-and-error it to perfection.

-1 jar pickled jalapeno peppers

-1 beer batter packet (prepared according to the instructions)

-peanut oil

-ranch dressing

Heat the peanut oil. Dip the peppers in the beer batter in handfuls. Drop into the hot oil in handfuls. When the clumps turn golden brown, scoop them out and place them on a rack or a paper towel to get the excess oil off. Serve with ranch for dipping. Eat and realize your arteries hate you.

— Thanks.
