DelDOT Traffic UPDATE on US 13 and Brenford/Big Oak Roads Intersection Project
DelDOT is updating motorists about an area road improvement project.
Construction at the intersection of US 13 and Brenford/Big Oak Roads, which was to have started this past summer, is now beginning TODAY (September 14th). The project is expected to take approximately seven months to complete.
The scope of this project includes intersection improvements, such as the addition of turn lanes on the side streets, improvements along US 13, signal upgrades, and multimodal enhancements.
During construction, there will be traffic impacts and temporary road closures within the project area. Currently the road closures are scheduled as follows:
- Big Oak Road – Anticipated closure beginning in late October for approximately 75 days
- Brenford Road – Anticipated closure beginning in early January for approximately 79 days (Please note the Brenford Road closure is subject to be moved into spring, depending on weather.)
Both roads will be closed with signed detours in place for the duration of the closures. In addition, nighttime work will be necessary at the intersection to complete improvements along US 13 and upgrades to the traffic signal.
