Oven Baked Wings- September 28th Update

Friends for Jeff Spiegelman,

October is just about here! One month left.

-There was a lot of stuff going on in and around the 11th District this previous week. Monday was a coffee with constituents at Willey’s Farm and a town hall meeting at the Townsend Fire Hall. Tuesday night was the Delaware League of Local Governments’ annual banquet. I got a chance to be a part of the signing ceremony for several bills designed to help some of Delaware’s first responders on Monday. Thursday night was a Smyrna Rotary dinner to benefit a local scholarship and a Beecher’s Brook Homeowners Association meeting (thank you to those who showed up to help their community). Saturday was the Townsend Parade and Fair (2000 people! Congratulations to the town). On Saturday I also had a team compete at the Stomp Out Childhood Cancer event down at Harvest Ridge Winery.

-Friday night I took my family to opening night at Boo at the Zoo at 3 Palms Petting Zoo on Blackbird Forest Road. This is a great event for families in the 11th District. Every Friday and Saturday night until November 1st from 7p.m.-9 p.m. the zoo will be having warm cider, marshmallows, Halloween decorations around the zoo, and all the animals. Stop by. Admission is $10 for a group of 5. I am also looking at having monthly meetings at the zoo. Standby for more details. The zoo’s website is http://www.3palmszoo.org/

-This coming week, in addition to door knocking, class, and time with the boy, we have a lot of stuff happening. Monday night is the Kent County Farm Bureau annual dinner. Tuesday night is a meeting with the constituents of Estates of St. Anne. Wednesday morning is a coffee with constituents at the Young Bean. Wednesday night is a Townsend Town Council meeting at 7:30 p.m. at the Fire Hall. Thursday afternoon is an Unclaimed Property Task Force meeting. Saturday is the Kenton Car Show. Saturday night is the Hartly Beef and Beer.

-If you have a Jeff Spiegelman yard sign, we thank you for your support. Please remember to keep them at least 10 feet from the road or DelDOT comes and takes them.

-We have been getting in a lot of door knocking and we could really use some help. If you are interested in helping us out by going door to door, conducting surveys, or driving, please let us know by emailing Samantha at manager@jeffDErepresentative.com

-If you would like to host a Jeff Spiegelman event at your house, please email Samantha at manager@jeffderepresentative.com. We would be happy to work with your schedule for a BBQ, a simple coffee, a quick chat with your friends/neighbors, or whatever else you had in mind.

-My next round of constituent meetings for October is below. Constituents are invited to stop by one of the following meetings to share a question or concern about a legislative or district matter that they may have.  We are looking to add another meeting at Little Italy Pizza Shop on Main St in Townsend in October (GREAT pizza!). Standby for details.

Here is the schedule:

–  COFFEE MEETING – Wednesday, October 1st – The Young Bean Coffee Shop (314 Main Street, Clayton) – 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m.

–  MEET & GREET – Friday, October 10th- Harvest Ridge Winery (447 Westville Road, Marydel, DE) – 5:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.

–  ICE CREAM SOCIAL – Wednesday, October 15th – Mamie Warren Senior Center (1775 Wheatleys Pond Road, Smyrna) – 12-noon to 1:00 p.m.

–  MEET & GREET – Friday, October 24th – Painted Stave Distilling (106 W. Commerce Street, Smyrna) – 5:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.

I tried to follow an online recipe for this one and it didn’t work. So, I adjusted the times below based on a guesstimate. It was yummy, but a fight to keep the smoke detectors from going off while my son napped.

-1 dozen chicken wings

-my Simple Teriyaki Sauce (lemon, soy, sriracha, and sesame oil adjusted to your taste)

Preheat the oven to 400 degrees. Toss the wings in a bit of the sauce until lightly coated. Place on a rack with a pan underneath to catch the drippings. Bake until the skin of the chicken turns dark and crispy. About 20-25 minutes. Coat with the rest of the sauce.

Thanks.
