We are back! The second leg of the 150th General Assembly begins on Tuesday at 2pm.
-I have been asked a lot what is going to be on the agenda this year in the G.A. There are some obvious things that are going to come up, such as gun control. A minimum wage increase bill is also likely. There will probably be more judicial reform bills. We are working with a surplus, which makes tax bills less likely. The legalization of marijuana bill is still several voted short of passing and will not be seen on the House Floor unless it can reach 21 YES votes. Other than that…. Well, I guess we will have to wait and see.
-As if this wasn’t enough, my classes begin this week as well!
-Tuesday evening is the annual “Welcome Back” reception with the Governor after session.
-On Wednesday we are already back to work in committees debating legislation. There is a bill that will allow Sussex County to sell non-ethanol fuel at marinas for marine and small engines.
-We are still putting together our full schedule of meetings with constituents for the first third of 2020. If you have a day, time, and location that would fit your schedule please let me know and we will try to fit it in.
Years ago I did a Tzatziki sauce in one of these weekly recipes. I have since revised my recipe. Greek food purists will be horrified by what they see here. And for that, I am sorry.
-1 cup plain Greek yogurt
-2 chopped garlic cloves
-2 cucumbers, skinned
-1 ½ tbpns chopped dill
-Juice from ½ lemon
-1/2 medium onion, sliced
-1 small shallot, sliced
-2 tbpn olive oil (or garlic oil…. Or black garlic oil!)
-Salt to taste
Cut half a cucumber into small chunks and set aside. Combine all the other ingredients into a food processor. Blend until smooth. Stir the cucumber chunks back in. Let sit, covered, in the refrigerator overnight. Enjoy.
