Eggs, Lox, and Onions- October 12 Update

Friends for Jeff Spiegelman,

We have two free constituent events coming up this week. On Wednesday 10/15 is an Ice Cream Social at the Mamie Warren Senior Center at noon. On Saturday 10/18 at 7-8p.m. I will be at 3 Palms Zoo for their Boo at the Zoo event http://www.3palmszoo.org/. Come to one or both!

-With a couple of weeks left until the election we are still very involved with events all over the state. On Monday, I recorded a video that you can see here http://youtu.be/iH0QrNhqx5Q. Tuesday night was a monthly Kenton Ruritan meeting. Wednesday was Delaware Woodlands Firefighter Day and Smokey Bear’s 70th birthday at Legislative Hall. Thursday night was the Fall Friends of the NRA Dinner. Friday night was a wine with Rep. Spiegelman event at Harvest Ridge Winery and a wing night at the Marydel Fire Hall. Saturday was the Delaware Wine and Beer Festival at the Delaware Ag. Museum.

-Monday night I will be attending the New Castle County Farm Bureau Annual Banquet at the Townsend Fire Hall.

-Thursday night is a candidates debate sponsored by the League of Women Voters at the Modern Maturity Center. Come out and meet all the candidates in Kent County.

-Friday is a Hartly Ladies Auxiliary Sub Sale.

-Sunday is a celebration at the Marydel Fire Hall in honor of the tornado victims returning to their homes.

-Also, on Saturday, we could use some help knocking on doors in the northern parts of the 11th District. There are only a couple of Saturdays left and we could really use some help from our friends. We will be meeting at 10:00 a.m. at the Townsend Fire Hall. Please let us know if you can make it.

-If you have a Jeff Spiegelman yard sign, we thank you for your support. Please remember to keep them at least 10 feet from the road or DelDOT comes and takes them. Please let us know of any that are missing or damaged and we will replace them ASAP.

-If you are interested in helping us out by going door to door, conducting surveys, or driving, please let us know by emailing Samantha at manager@jeffDErepresentative.com

-If you would like to host a Jeff Spiegelman event at your house, please email Samantha at manager@jeffderepresentative.com. We would be happy to work with your schedule for a BBQ, a simple coffee, a quick chat with your friends/neighbors, or whatever else you had in mind.

-My next round of constituent meetings for October is below. Constituents are invited to stop by one of the following meetings to share a question or concern about a legislative or district matter that they may have.  Please notice that we have added an event at 3 Palms Zoo on Blackbird Forest Rd.

Here is the schedule:

–  ICE CREAM SOCIAL – Wednesday, October 15th – Mamie Warren Senior Center (1775 Wheatleys Pond Road, Smyrna) – 12-noon to 1:00 p.m.

  • MEET & GREET – Saturday, October 18th – 3 Palms Petting Zoo Boo at the Zoo (924 Blackbird Forest Rd, Clayton, DE 19938)- 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. http://www.3palmszoo.org/
  • MEET & GREET – Friday, October 24th – Painted Stave Distilling (106 W. Commerce Street, Smyrna) – 5:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.

E.L.O. (Eggs, Lox, and Onion) is Jewish comfort food. And yummy.

-1/2 cup of poached salmon from last week’s recipe picked into small bits

-2 eggs

-Half an onion, chopped

-Salt and pepper

Fry the onion in a pan until it begins to brown. While it is cooking, beat the two eggs and mix it with the salmon. Add salt and pepper to taste. Pour the egg and salmon mixture evenly over the onions. Cook until lightly browned. Flip. Cook until lightly browned. Enjoy on its own or on a toasted bagel.

Thanks.
