Friends for Jeff Spiegelman,
Welcome to June.
-We are back in session this week through the rest of June. We typically do as many bills in June as the previous five months combined. Then, on the dreaded June 30th, we will run almost as many bills as the rest of the session combined. Fun, fun.
-Representative Bennet and I have a bill in committee this week. The Sportsmen’s Caucus has been trying for years to get some liability protection for people looking to donate food to soup kitchens and similar institutions. The Trial Lawyers Association has fought us every attempt we have made. This year will be no different, but I am more confident this year we have a better chance of getting some help to our most vulnerable citizens despite the objections of the Trial Lawyers Association.
-On Thursday, the big bill on the agenda is HB150, The Marijuana Control Act. This bill, if passed, would legalize recreational use of Marijuana. While I voted in favor of this measure back in 2018, I have SERIOUS objections to the way this bill is written. Unless major changes are made, including an amendment I have proposed, I will be voting NO on Thursday.

My wife and I have a debate of corn vs. flour tortillas. I believe corn to be better. But, since she is my editor and wife, and I am not an idiot. I have posted this recipe using flour.
-1 grouper filet per person (I get mine at Willey’s Market)
-1/2 cup of freshly cut cilantro
-1/2 cup lettuce
-1/2 lime, sliced
-1 large jalapeno, cut in half length-wise
-Your favorite fish seasoning (or, use a mixture of salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder)
Preheat smoker to 325 degrees. While the smoker is coming up to temperature, season the fish and let sit. Place the jalapeno and the fish on the grill grates. Cook 10 minutes. Flip. Cook 10 minutes more or until fish reaches 145 degrees. Remove the fish and the jalapenos. Cut the peppers into strips. Combine all ingredients on a lightly toasted corn tortilla. I mean, flour tortilla.
-Enjoy your week.
