Friends for Jeff Spiegelman,
June 30th is upon us! Under normal circumstances, that would mean as many bills will be done that night as almost the entire rest of the year combined as we work into the wee hours of the morning on July 1st. However, this year the plan (what is it people say about plans….) is to do all of our late in-session work on June 29th, log in from home at 11:45 p.m. on the 30th, and log out at 12:15 a.m. on July 1st. We will see….
-To see what bills on are on the agenda for June 29th, please go to Legis.delaware.gov. We have passed an Operating Budget. We still must pass the Capital Improvement/Bond bill and the Grants in Aid bill. But, you can see how many other bills are being run before we break for 6 months.
-Having said that, the election of 2022 will require redistricting. The US Census data was late getting to us this year. As such, we are going to have to meet in “Extra Special Session” or something like that in the fall to redraw the representative district boundaries. Some of you may find yourselves no longer in the 11th District. Some of you who are not in the 11th now may find yourselves suddenly within the district that is “Too Good for One County.” It might even go down to one county…. Stay tuned.
-Happy Birthday, America! I will be attending the Smyrna/Clayton 4th of July parade on the 3rd. First parade since 2019.
Sorry, no recipe this week. It is late June and I am too busy to cook. Jenn, Saul, and Elianah are enjoying a lot more delivery than normal.
-Enjoy your week.
