Back to Session Again- Miso Tzatziki- May 5 2019 Update

Friends for Jeff Spiegelman,

No update next week. Instead, Happy Mommy’s Day!

-Congratulations to Jane Brady for being elected the state chair of the Delaware GOP. Congratulations to my former colleague and mentor, Debbie Hudson, for being elected vice-chair.

-We are back in session this week. For those of you who have contacted me about the gun control package of bills, they are in the Senate and will be getting a committee hearing on Wednesday.

-Tomorrow evening, before a Joint Sunset Committee meeting, I am attending the signing ceremony for freshman representative Jesse Vanderwende’s first bill. Congratulations to him!

-On Tuesday, the Associated Builders and Contractors are having a legislative reception.

-Wednesday is a full committee day. In addition, the annual Boots and Badges Blood Drive will be going on. This is a friendly competition between the boots (firefighters) and badges (law enforcement) to see which team can get the most donated to the Blood Bank. To which team should I give?

-Thursday has another joint sunset committee meeting and the State Farm Legislative Reception.

-On Saturday is Family Day at the Delaware Aero Space Education center at Big Oak Park. Then, Saturday night is the unveiling of Painted Stave’s Whiskey Garden in Smyrna.

-I know I have heard from a lot of you with concerns about the intersection at Brenford/Seeneytown Road and Seven Hickories Road. DelDOT has scheduled a town hall meeting about their plans for the intersection. The event is open to the public and is going to be held at the Cheswold Fire Company from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Monday, May 13th.

-Over the next couple of weeks we will be putting together our next round of meetings and coffees with constituents. Are there any days and times you would like us to try to schedule?

Uch, no. That sounds terrible!” Thanks Jenn. To be fair to her, fusion food, in this case Greek-Japanese, can be REALLY tough to get right. I made this right before I started typing this email. I am going to let it sit in the fridge for a day or two for the flavors to come together. Then, on to some ribs it goes!

-2/3 skinned large cucumber

-1/3 skinned large cucumber cut into chunks

-2 cloves garlic, diced

-4 tbsp red miso

-dill, a lot of it, sliced

-salt, and pepper to taste

-2 tbsp olive oil

-2 cups plain Greek yogurt

Add all the ingredients except the chunks of cucumber into a food processor. Blend until still a bit chunky. Stir in the chunks of cucumber, cover, and let sit in the fridge for an hour or overnight. Use as a marinade, dipping sauce, salad dressing, or sandwich spread.

— Thanks.
