We have one more week in the General Assembly before we take a two week break for budget mark-ups. Last year at this time we were looking at a $400 million shortfall. We are in much better shape this year and it looks like we are getting serous about putting some money away to head off another down year like last year. We will see….
-Speaking of budgets, I am getting a run-down of exactly what this future budget plan is going to look like from State Treasurer Ken Simpler on Tuesday. I am looking forward to it.
-I have lunch on Wednesday with representatives from Delaware’s tourism industry and insurance industry. Not at the same meeting, but at the same time. I need to clone myself.
-Two cars shows are going on this weekend. On Saturday is both the Kenton Ruritan Car show at the Kenton School and the Smyrna-Clayton Rotary Car Show at Smyrna High School. So, if you like classic cars (which I do!) then Saturday has a lot of opportunities for you in Northern Kent County. Fingers crossed for good weather.
-Happy Mother’s Day! Especially to my Mommy and the mommy of my Saul and Elianah.

Still trying to perfect my Brussels sprouts recipe. Here is another attempt:
-LARGE Brussels sprouts. Cut off the stem and slice into quarters. Save all the individual leaves that fall off.
-1 clove garlic, finely chopped
-salt and pepper to taste
-dash of onion powder
-dash of balsamic vinegar
-2 tbsp olive oil
Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Whisk together all the ingredients except to sprouts. Toss this mixture with the sprouts to evenly coat. Place in a single layer in a non-stick pan. Bake, uncovered, for 30 minutes. Stir. Bake another 10 minutes. Enjoy.
