Coffee at Willey Farms Friday- Random Fried Rice- March 4 2018 Update

Friends for Jeff Spiegelman

After a long Joint Finance break we are back to work in the General Assembly this week. Obviously, there are a lot of controversial measures on the table. That’s good. Controversial measures are often the most important issues for us to tackle.

-Remember to go do your taxes!

-On Thursday, Governor Carney will be signing my HB231. This bill creates the Delaware Abandoned Cultural Property Act which will allow museums and archives in Delaware to operate more efficiently and effectively. We are 1 of only 4 states in the country that does not currently employ a law such as this. Thank you Governor Carney and the General Assembly for seeing fit to put this act into effect.

-On Friday I have a coffee with constituents at Willey Farms. Come join us. See below for more details. Afterwards, I am reading as part of Read Across America at the John Basset Moore school.

-Saturday is the 2nd Annual Delaware Outdoor Expo at the Harrington Fairgrounds.

-Here is our constituent meeting schedule. Come to any or all of these events for a little political discussion! Please note we have removed the meeting at the Young Bean which has, unfortunately, closed.

Friday, March 9th Willey’s 8 a.m. to 9 a.m.

Saturday, March 24th  with a rain date of Saturday, March 31st  3 Palms Zoo   Noon to 1 p.m.

Friday, April 27th Harvest Ridge 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.

Monday, May 14th Mamie Warren Senior Center Noon to 1 p.m.

-Some of our favorite meals around the house are ones where we don’t know what we are going to cook so we throw a bunch of stuff together and it turns out being surprisingly good.

-1 dry cup rice

-1 bay leaf

-2 cups vegetable stock

-Soy sauce

-dash of ground ginger

-dash of chili powder

-3 ground cloves

-1 cup Krab

-Sesame oil

-1 garlic clove, sliced

-1 cup sliced carrots

Fry the carrots and garlic in a bit of the oil in a pot with a tight fitting lid. Add the stock, spices, and a dash of soy and bring to a boil. Stir in the rice and bring to a boil. Cover and simmer for 20 minutes. Heat another dash of oil in a large sauce pan. Transfer the cooked rice to the pan, add the krab, and stir fry 5 minutes.

— Thanks.
