Friends for Jeff Spiegelman

2018 has been a great year. I am looking forward to seeing what 2019 has to offer.

-Tomorrow night my caucus and I are having dinner at the governor’s mansion.

-Tuesday is our next coffee with constituents meeting at Hartly Hardware on Main Street in Hartly. Stop by! These meetings are for you. If you want to drop in quickly and let me know about a pothole or road that needs repair, no problem. If you want to sit and stay for the whole meeting, that’s fine too.

-No updates for the rest of the year. See you in 2019!

Tuesday, December 18^th – Hartly Hardware on Main St in Hartly 9 a.m. to 10 a.m.

Monday, January 7^th – Tony’s Sausage on Kenton Road 8 a.m. to 9 a.m.

Friday, January 25^th – Painted Stave in Smyrna 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.

Tuesday, February 19^th – Eats and Sweets in Smyrna  8 a.m. to 9 a.m.

I am sure anyone who knows what they are doing with East Asian food is going to read this and sigh in frustration. Sorry. But, on the other hand, it makes for a healthy side with noodles or stir-fry.

-1 cabbage, quartered

-1 handful each shredded carrot, broccoli, and shiitake mushrooms

-4 cloves, ground

-1/4 star anise, ground

-1 tbsp each chili powder and paprika

-dash of nutmeg, cinnamon, and sugar

-1/4 cup soy sauce

-4 tbsp mirin, Chinese cooking wine, or sherry

Combine all the ingredients except the veggies into a pot of water. Bring to a boil. Stir in the cabbage. Bring back to a boil and cook 3-5 minutes. Add the other veggies. Cook until everything is tender. Strain and enjoy.
