Next Round of Meetings- Beef and Leek Stew- December 9th Update

-On Monday is the 2018 Wreaths Across America event at Legislative Hall to honor our Nation’s servicemen and women.

-On Thursday, December 13th is the Kent County GOP Regional Christmas Party. Please let me know if you would like more details.

-This week is the first pre-file for the 150th General Assembly. It is the first look as some of the bills that we will be working in the first couple of weeks of session when we go back to work in January. You can see these bills when they come out on the General Assembly Website. legis.delaware.gov

-We are ready to announce our next round of meetings with constituents. Please stop by one or all and let me know what is on your mind.

Tuesday, December 18th – Hartly Hardware on Main St in Hartly 9 a.m. to 10 a.m.

Monday, January 7th – Tony’s Sausage on Kenton Road 8 a.m. to 9 a.m.

Friday, January 25th – Painted Stave in Smyrna 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.

Tuesday, February 19th – Eats and Sweets in Smyrna  8 a.m. to 9 a.m.

Stew. Its hot. Its heavy. Its the ultimate winter food. Here is what I am making this week

-1.5 pound cubed chuck roast seasoned heavily with salt and pepper

-2 cloves garlic, sliced

-Vegetable oil

-3 leeks, chopped

-2 carrots, chopped

-2 celery stalks, chopped

-12 pearl onions, pealed

-1/4 cup Worcester sauce

-1 bay leaf

-1 tbpn paprika

-Dash of crème de cassis

-1 can diced tomato

Heat the oil on low/medium heat. Cook the garlic until it begins to brown. Skim it out and add it to a slow cooker. Preserve oil. Add all the other ingredients except the meat. Turn on low and add enough water to just cover everything. Heat the oil again. Brown the outside of the meat in the hot oil. Skim and add to the slow cooked. Cook on low for 6 hours.
