Eats and Sweets Tuesday- Salt Block Shrimp- February 17 2019 Update

Friends For Jeff Spiegelman,

Many of you have emailed me specifically in regards to SB50, the DelTech Property Tax. I am currently an instructor at DelTech. As such, if that bill comes to the floor for a full vote, by House Ethics Rules I will be going “Not Voting” due to a conflict of interest. Procedurally, “Not Voting” counts as a No.

-Tuesday morning is our next meeting with constituents at Eats and Sweets on Main Street in Smyrna. Come out and let me buy you a cup of coffee.

-On Thursday I will be bringing a historical object from my collection to the Delaware State Archives for display in their Great War exhibit. After Thursday more details about this visit can be found on my Facebook page.

-Thursday evening I will be an observer at US Senator Chris Coons’ town hall event at the Cheswold Fire Company.

-Saturday afternoon you should come see me at my booth at I Love Smyrna School District Day. Look for my “Friends For Jeff Spiegelman” yellow!

-We have completed the schedule for the next round of meetings with constituents. Please stop by one or all and let me know what is on your mind.

Tuesday, February 19th – Eats and Sweets 8 a.m. to 9 a.m.

Friday, March 22nd – Harvest Ridge Winery 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.

Saturday, April 13th – 3 Palms Zoo Noon to 1 p.m.  Easter Egg Hunt (rain date Saturday, April 27th)

Thursday, April 25th – Little Italy Pizza Noon to 1 p.m.

I got a salt block a few years ago. They are a lot of fun. I have not had anything bad on them. I have found that keeping things as simple as possible helps bring out the flavors.

-Raw, tail-on, peeled, jumbo shrimp

-Hot sauce

-Lemon

Marinate the shrimp in a bit of hot sauce for a few hours. Heat the salt block. Brush the hot sauce off the shrimp. Cook for a few minutes. Flip. Cook for a few minutes more. Give eat shrimp a small squeeze of lemon.  Remove from the block.  Eat. Realize what a mess you just made of your salt block. Look in the pantry for other fun things to put on a hot sauce and shrimp encrusted, hot, salt block….. (next week’s recipe).

— Thanks.
