Who Needs a Sign?- Plantains Part II- August 19th 2018 Update

Friends for Jeff Spiegelman,

We are now officially in a campaign and we need your help. See below for more details on how you can be part of the team. We would love to have you.

-On Monday I have a meeting about expanding industrial hemp production. I am really excited for this industry to expand in Delaware.

-Tuesday evening I am attending Representative Lyndon Yearick’s fundraiser in Camden. Please email me if you would like more details.

-On Wednesday morning I am attending the annual Smyrna School District Welcome Back Breakfast.

-Friday evening is our next meeting with constituents at Harvest Ridge Winery in Marydel from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. I will have signs with me if you would like to pick one up.

-On Saturday is the next Townsend Fire Company BBQ. My personal favorite is their chicken. It’s delicious!

-I am attending the historical marker ceremony at St. Peters Cemetery on Sunday.

-If you would like a sign for your yard, please email me your address or stop by one of our constituent meetings below. Thank you and let’s turn the streets of the 11th into “yellow sign roads”.

-We are looking for volunteers to help us on Saturday, September 22nd for the annual Townsend Parade. We are going to have a float and we need people to walk and ride with us in our familiar campaign yellow. No experience necessary. Show up and we will have shirts for you. Please let me know if you are interested. Lineup is at 9 a.m. for a 10 a.m. kick-off.

-Weather permitting we will be walking through some neighborhoods in the northern parts of the 11th placing our brochures in some doors. We would love to have you join us. Please let me know if you are interested this Saturday or any other days you might be able to join us.

-COME ONE, COME ALL. All are invited to our constituent meetings. Come to any or all for some good conversation. I will have my yellow signs with me at these events if you would like to pick up one up for your yard.

Back in March I did a baked plantains recipe that was fairly basic. This one is a little more complex. And just a bit more delicious. Remember, the secret to good plantains is to let them ripen until they are yellow with larger dark spots.

-Plantains cut into 1 inch cross sections

-1 sliced jalapeno

-Salt

-Olive oil

-Sesame oil

-Balsamic vinegar

-Light brown sugar

-1/2 medium onion, sliced

Preheat oven to 450 degrees. Add the plantains, jalapeno, and onion to a bowl. Season with a dash of salt and a large pinch of brown sugar. Sprinkle with olive oil, sesame oil, and balsamic vinegar. Toss. Place in a non-stick baking pan. Bake 7-10 minutes. Flip. Bake 7-10 minutes. Eat and enjoy.

— Thanks.
