Wine with Constituents Friday- Macaroni with Meat Sauce- October 25 Update

Friends for Jeff Spiegelman,

We are putting together the next round of meetings with constituents. In the meantime, Friday night is a Glass of Wine with Rep Spiegelman event at Harvest Ridge Winery in Marydel. Please come join us.

-On Monday I am attending the funeral of a friend and huge supporter, Dave Jones. RIP.

-Monday night is the monthly meeting of the 11th District GOP at 7 p.m. at Blackbird Community Center on Blackbird Forrest Rd.

-Tuesday night is a bottling party at Painted Stave Distilling.

-Happy Halloween, everyone. Be safe and have fun. Sauly is a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle. He picked it out himself.

-Good news! Delaware is about to start a Sportsman’s Caucus. I have been invited to be the chair. This bi-partisan and bicameral group is open to the public and will be used to promote hunting and fishing in the state of Delaware. The First State was one of only three states without a Sportsman’s Caucus. I am very proud to serve my state and constituents in this way. Standby for more details as my co-chairs and I put the final touches on everything. If you are interested in updates on this group, please email me.

-Cookbooks are here! Volume II is ready for you. We are asking for a $30 donation and one of these cookbooks can be yours. It contains all the recipes from my weekly email updates from March 2014 to March 2015. Please let me know if you are interested and thank you for the support.

-I invite constituents to stop by one of the following meetings to share a question or concern about a legislative or district matter that may be on their minds. These meetings are also a great place to pick up a 2015 volume II cookbook!

Meet and Greet/Wine Tasting — Oct. 30, 5-6:30 p.m., Harvest Ridge Winery, 447 Westville Road, Marydel.

This is another good meal that can be had by skipping just a few corners.

-1 packet macaroni

-1 packet onion soup mix

-2 tbsp olive oil

-Italian seasoning (I like the loose mix from Byler’s Country Store in Dover)

-1 lb ground beef

-1 15 oz can diced tomatoes

-1 15 oz can tomato sauce

-Garlic powder

-Salt and pepper to taste

Heat the olive oil in a pan. Brown the beef with a couple of generous pinches of the Italian seasoning, a pinch of garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Drain. Add the tomatoes, tomato sauce, and another generous pinch of the Italian seasoning. Bring to a light boil, stirring often. Reduce heat, cover, and simmer. The longer you simmer the sauce, the better it becomes.

Add 1 tbsp olive oil, a dash of salt, dash of garlic powder, and the onion soup packet to a pot of water. Cook the noodles in this. Do not rinse.

— Thanks.
